Eigentlich
wollte ich nach dem Thomas die Lokomotive Quilt ja mit meinen
Weihnachtsprojekten anfangen, habe aber noch eine Anfrage für einen Babyquilt
bekomme und da konnte ich nicht widerstehen.
Zeitlich
war es zwar ein wenig knapp, da mir jetzt nur noch zwei Wochen bleiben um
alles noch für Weihnachten fertig zu stellen, aber es sollte machbar sein,
wenn ich mich ein wenig ran halte.
Nachdem
also der Quiltblock ausgesucht und die Farbwahl getroffen war, hieß es für
mich erst mal Stoff Shopping. Eine wirklich harte Arbeit, ich weiß. ;-)

Initially I wanted to start on my Christmas projects
after I had finished up the Thomas the Train quilt, but then got a request
for a baby quilt which I could not resist.
Time was a bit tight as I now have only two weeks left
till everything has to be finished for Christmas, but I knew it was doable if
I hurried up a bit.
So after the pattern was picked and the color choice
done, I went fabric shopping. Such a chore, I know. ;-)

Lila
und pink für die neue Erdenbürgerin. Ich bin sehr zufrieden mit meiner
Stoffauswahl und hoffe, dass es meiner Freundin genauso gut gefällt. Sie hat
bis jetzt weder den fertigen Quilt noch die Stoffe gesehen. Also wird es eine
große Überraschung diesen Freitag.

Purple and pink for a little baby girl. I’m quite
happy with my fabric selection and hope my friend likes it just as much. She
has neither seen the finished quilt yet nor the fabric. So it’s going to be a
big surprise this Friday.

Der
Block besteht aus einem 5“ Quadrat und 2,5“ Streifen rund herum.

surrounded by 2,5“ stripes.

Und
wie man oben links in der Ecke sehen kann, war Otto die Qualitätskontrolle
sehr hinterher, dass ich auch alles ordentlich mache und alles glatt läuft.

And as you can see in the top left corner Otto the
quality control was very thorough in checking up on me that everything was
going smoothly.

Beim
Quilten habe ich mich für eine einfaches „Stitch in the Ditch“ um die Blöcke
entschieden. Nichts aufwendiges, aber dafür bleibt der Quilt schön fluffig.

For quilting I decided on a simple stitch in the
ditch around the blocks. Nothing to fancy, but this way the quilt will remain
a bit fluffier.
