glücklich mit dem Ergebnis und nun nur noch das Anordnen.

Heute nur ein kurzer Post. Hab die restlichen Blöcke dann doch nicht
fertig bekommen übers Wochenende. Andere Shades of Grey haben mit abgelenkt.

Just a quick post today. Didn’t finish up the
rest of the block over the weekend. For some reason some other shades of grey
kept me busy. ;)
But here are the finished three.

Ich war eine fleißige Biene dieses Wochenende oder das ist, was mich
meine Freundin Nicole zumindest immer nennt, nachdem ich ihr die Bilder mit meinen fertigen
Werken zuschicke.
Um ehrlich zu sein, war ich nicht wahnsinnig motiviert nach dem
Fehlversuch letzte Woche. Aber nachdem ich dann die Entscheidung getroffen
hatte die Blockgröße von 6“ auf 8“ zu vergrößern und den Block auszulassen,
der nicht funktioniert hat, habe ich nun die Hälfte der Blöcke fertig.
Mit der veränderten Blockgröße musste ich natürlich auch die Blöcke
reduzieren zu 3 x 4 Blöcke. Die Maße passen trotzdem und bei einem Babyquilt
kommt es jetzt nicht so auf den cm an.
Ich möchte noch mal Danke sagen für die aufmunternden Worte zu meinem
Letzen Post.
Ich wollte möglichst viele traditionelle Blöcke mit einbeziehen und
denke das hat auch ganz gut geklappt. Hier sind sie also.

Well I’ve been a busy bee over the weekend at
least that is what my friend Nicole calls me whenever I send her pictures of whatever
I finished last.
Truth be told I wasn’t much motivated after
last week’s failed attempt to start on the new baby quilt. But after I made up my
mind to change the block size from 6” to 8” and taking out the block which
hadn’t worked out, half the blocks are finished.
With the changed block size I of course had
to reduce the total blocks to 3 x 4 blocks. The measurements still work out and
half an inch more or less is no big deal for a baby quilt.
At this point thanks for all the encouraging
feedback to my last post.
I wanted to include lots of traditional
blocks and I think I’ve accomplished that. So here they are.

Ich möchte heute den Anfang meines neuen Projektes mit Euch teilen,
welches ein Babyquilt in sanften rosa und grau Tönen. Die Farbwahl stammt von
der Mutter, die folgenden Quilt als Bespiel genannt hat. Das Muster selber
darf ich wählen.

I wanted to share with you the beginning of
my new project which is a baby quilt in soft grey and pink. Color choice came
from the mom who gave me this quilt as example which pattern the quilt will
have is up to me.

Also habe ich mich für einen Sampler mit 6 inch Blöcken entschieden
mit insgesamt 20 Blöcken. Aber als ich gestern den ersten Block genäht hatte,
haben die Nähte sich nicht getroffen und statt der eigentlichen 6,5 inch war
er dann nur 5,25 inch groß. Und dann hab ich mir den Block angeschaut und
gedacht dass er einfach winzig ist und hab mich gefragt, ob 8 inch Blöcke
nicht vielleicht besser wären.

So I decided on a 6” sampler with 20 blocks
but of course after I finished the first block yesterday the center point is
off and the block size is not 6.5” but rather 6.25”. And then I looked at the
block and thought gosh that is so tiny and started wondering if 8” block
wouldn’t be better.

Was meint Ihr? Der fertige Quilt soll ein Maß von ca. 40x51 inch
(100x130 cm) haben.

What do you think? The finished quilt is supposed
to be about 40x51 inches.

Ich habe mich für meinen ersten Swap angemeldet. Yeah!
Geswappt werden einfache Nine-Patch Blöcke im Patchwork & Quiltforum. Ich habe mich als
Nachrücker angelmeldet und den Platz von jemand anderem übernommen. Der Swap
hat im Mai gestartet also war ich dann nicht ganz so spät dran.
Der erste Block für den Mai wurde in bunt gewünscht.

I have signed up for my first swap. Yeah!
It’s a simple nine-patch swap from the German Patchwork & Quilt Forum. I
was a late arrived as I replaced someone else. The swap started in May so I
was not that late.
The first block for May was supposed to be a
multicolor one.

Ich habe doch noch eine Kleinigkeit fertig gestellt und
zwar ein Mug-Rug für meine Mutter. Sie liebt Rosenmuster und hatte mir Teile
alter Bettwäsche meiner Oma mitgegeben, die gleich Verwendung gefunden haben.

I did finish a mug rug for my mom though. A
small something for her. She loves rose patterns and had given me some old
bedding from my grandma, which I put directly to good use. ;)
